The BorTec SMT GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized family-owned company, headquartered in Huerth near Cologne, Germany. In addition to the surface hardening of stainless steel using the BORINOX® method, we are a service provider in the area of wear protection by boridingWe are certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and have implemented an alternative energy management system.The quality of all orders to be processed is controlled and documented by our material testers in the in-house metallographic laboratory. Upon request, we will provide you with an acceptance test certificate according to EN 10204:2005-01.

Bortec

BorTec SMT GmbH & Co. KG is an innovative company with roots anchored deep amongst the best traditions of the German chemicals industry. From the very conception of the company, the focus was on the wear protection of steels for machine and plant construction. Tried and tested products, such as the Borocoat® boriding layers that are made according to the Borodur® procedure solve the wear problems of discriminating customers in a wide range of industrial sectors. The means to execute this procedure were developed in-house and sold around the world under the name EKABOR®. We are the only hardener certified in Germany offering solutions for the treatment of special steels from the HTCS130 series with the rapid quench procedure.In recent years, we have invested heavily in research and development which has resulted in several individual and cooperation projects of BMWi as well as the development of new procedures.

Quality

The BORINOX® procedure developed by BorTec SMT GmbH & Co. KG is used to harden stainless steels without influencing the corrosion resistance and underlines the innovative strengths of the company. Quality is our key focus and we have been certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 from the start of production and continue to strive for improvement. Heat treatments using electricity or gas are energy-intensive and make for a considerable proportion of he costs. In order to ensure future competitiveness, and to the advantage of our customers, we have been employing an alternative energy management system since 2013. Our excellently trained materials inspectors work in a modern material laboratory. They have preparation and grinding machines, multiple hardness testing tools and corrosion measuring cells on hand to record current density potential curves. We consistently monitor the quality of all tasks to be completed and document, on request, the results in a material report in accordance with EN 10204:2005-01.
